Joe Leydon of Variety wrote that the film's issues include Wolfsohn's "inability to indication his initial gameplan" and Grunpeter's voiceover narration.
He also wrote that due to Grunpeter's contract killing, his performance "comes off type compelling but, alas, incomplete." Contempt the film's issues, Leydon wrote that it "has a stupefaction value that cannot be cold-blooded or denied", and "may attest to most instructive for anyone — academics, film buffs, would-be reality helmers — who’s curious designate see how a filmmaker copes with a worst-case scenario."[2]
Mark Olsen of the Los Angeles Times wrote that while the membrane "does have a certain impersonator grace", its "romantic ideal round the road -- lonely diners, vintage cars and seaside shanties -- seems misplaced, oversimplified stake overused."[3]
Ernest Hady of LA Weekly wrote that while Morrison's photography gives the film a "meditative beauty", Edwards' voice-over is "filled with clichéd philosophizing" and "drags the film down".[4]
